32 people were killed and dozens injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a number of cars on the Cairo-Alexandria desert road in the vicinity of Wadi al-Natroun, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

The ministry explained that the accident resulted in the death of 32 passengers, and the injury of 63 others, 53 of whom were transferred to the one-day surgery hospital in Wadi Al-Natroun, while 7 others were transferred to West Nubaria Central Hospital, and ambulance was provided to three injured at the accident site, stressing raising the state of readiness in hospitals in Beheira Governorate, to deal with the injured in the traffic accident and follow up on ambulatory and therapeutic services for them.

Al-Ahram newspaper reported that the accident resulted in the death of 35 people, including at least 18 charred, and the injury of more than 53 others, and quoted police sources as saying that the collision occurred due to an oil leak from a car, which led to the fire in some cars.

Videos broadcast by activists and local media also showed scenes of a number of cars burning as a result of the incident, amid cries for help and people rushing to try to extinguish the flames and help the injured.

Egypt has witnessed similar collisions, the latest of which was a traffic accident described as horrific, which occurred on the "Kharga-Assiut" road in the south of the country and killed 17 people and injured 29, in addition to several accidents in the railway sector for trains over the years that killed hundreds of deaths and injuries.
