It was on Saturday evening that a man in his 60s called SOS Alarm that he had been the victim of an attempted murder in Stora Kyrkan in central Östersund.
Police were able to arrest two suspects. One was released and cleared of suspicion, while the other was arrested on probable cause on suspicion of the crime.
When Östersund District Court has now remanded the 37-year-old in custody, it is for suspicion of aggravated assault, not attempted murder.
– It is the district court that has chosen to detain the man on that suspicion, says prosecutor Tobias Kajbring to SVT Nyheter Jämtland.
"My alternative was attempted murder.
Charges must be filed no later than November 8.
