An 18-year-old man was charged and remanded in custody on charges of criminal terrorist association and direct incitement to commit a terrorist act. He is said to have explored "possible means to be used for violent action" and to have considered attacking police and military personnel.

An 18-year-old teenager, arrested on Monday in Mulhouse, in the Haut-Rhin region, was indicted on Friday in Paris for criminal terrorist association and direct provocation to commit a terrorist act, a judicial source said on Sunday. This young man, of French nationality, was placed in pre-trial detention, according to the same source, confirming information from Marianne.

Two other people have already been indicted by an anti-terrorism judge as part of these investigations, at the time of the opening of this judicial investigation in July, according to the source.

The accused is said to have planned to attack police and military personnel

According to a source close to the investigation, the young man indicted on Friday had explored "possibilities of means to be used for a violent action" and he had considered attacking police and soldiers.

He was arrested on Monday, notably by agents of the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI), and placed in police custody initially for glorifying terrorism after a home visit that "uncovered the dissemination of propaganda elements", a security source said on Monday. Contacted by AFP, his lawyer declined to comment.
