This is the result of the by-election in the 4th district of Nagasaki of the House of Representatives.

Ms. Kaneko, a newcomer to the Liberal Democratic Party and recommended by the New Komeito Party, was elected for the first time.

Kaneko is a 40-year-old from Nagasaki City. His father, Mr. Jiro Kaneko, who served as governor of Nagasaki Prefecture and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, ran for this by-election after working at a securities company. During the election campaign,
Ms. Kaneko appealed for the experience and ability of action in the private sector,
as well as measures to counter soaring prices and revitalize local areas by making use of innovative technologies.

Ms. Kaneko expressed her aspiration, saying, "We were able to win in a tough battle, and I must accept the current situation and suffering of the region in the northern part of the prefecture and deliver it to the national government, with high prices and economic measures as urgent issues."

Voter turnout was 42.19%, which was 26.10 points lower than the record low House of Representatives election in Heisei 25, and set a new record low.

This is the result of a by-election for the Tokushima-Kochi constituency of the House of Councillors.

Hirota, an independent former member of the House of Councillors who also served as a member of the House of Representatives, was elected for the third time with the support of four opposition parties.

Mr. Hirota is a 4-year-old from Tosashimizu City, Kochi Prefecture. He has served two terms as a member of the House of Councillors and one term as a member of the House of Representatives.

During the election campaign, Mr. Hirota emphasized his achievements and experience as a former legislator, as well as appealing for measures to counter rising prices such as the reduction of the gasoline tax and
the enhancement of child-rearing support, such as
the expansion of child allowances.

Mr. Hirota said, "Everyone's desire to create a sense of tension in politics came together and we were able to win as one great force. Now is the time to reduce the gasoline tax."

Voter turnout was at a record low of 3.55%, 2.1 points lower than in last year's election.

The two by-elections were set to be contested by the ruling and opposition parties, and the LDP, Constitutional Democratic Party, and other leaders came to support them one after another, and fierce election battles were held.

As a result, the Liberal Democratic Party retained its seat in the 2th district of Nagasaki in the House of Representatives, while the opposition won the seat in the Tokushima-Kochi constituency of the House of Councillors, giving the ruling and opposition parties a 4-1 record.
