Foreign Minister Kamikawa, who is visiting Egypt, attended an international conference to discuss the situation in the Palestinian Gaza Strip and called on countries to cooperate in responding to the situation, stressing the importance of halting the deterioration of the humanitarian situation.

The Cairo Peace Summit held in Egypt was attended by representatives of approximately 30 countries, regions, and international organizations, and Foreign Minister Kamikawa attended from the Japan.

In his speech, Minister Kamikawa said, "It is of utmost importance to minimize the deterioration of the humanitarian situation, and what we need to do now is to deliver the necessary assistance to the people of the Gaza Strip as soon as possible and to evacuate foreigners detained in the Gaza Strip to Egypt."

In addition to the Japan's policy of providing emergency humanitarian assistance totaling 1 million dollars to civilians in the Gaza Strip, he also announced that he intends to consider further assistance as necessary.

"Now is a critical moment, to ensure the safety of civilians, to bring the situation to a state of calm as soon as possible, and to mobilize the strength and wisdom of each country so that the people of the region can enjoy peace and stability sustainably," he said.
