"Israel's right to exist is non-negotiable. International humanitarian law applies to everyone. Human rights apply to everyone," writes Fridays For Future Germany in the evening on X, formerly Twitter, at the end of a longer thread. Greta Thunberg had previously expressed solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip by forwarding a controversial strike call.

On Instagram, Thunberg published a photo showing her together with three other activists. The current Friday strike is dedicated to "solidarity with Palestine and Gaza," Thunberg writes. The world must raise its voice and stand up for an immediate ceasefire, freedom and justice for Palestinians and all civilians," the post reads. Then she recommends accounts and organizations that provide more information about the matter and that can be supported.

In the comments, many users praised Thunberg's appeal for peace, but many others criticized her for not saying a word about Hamas terrorism emanating from Gaza. Even in previous statements on the current crisis, neither on Instagram nor on Thunberg's X profile can be found content that would address the Israeli side.

FFF Germany released a statement after many had called for a distancing from Thunberg.

"We stand in full solidarity with Jews who are experiencing anti-Semitic violence around the world, including here. We see the suffering of the civilian population, especially the children in Gaza," reads X. And further: "We also want to remind you once again that FFF Germany is a climate movement, but at the same time we see ourselves as having a great historical responsibility here."
