How Chinese astronauts are refined

——In the past 20 years, 18 Chinese have flown into space

To go through strict selection and hard training, an astronaut can fly to the vast universe in the best condition.

In the process of human exploration of the universe, astronauts, these brave people who travel through the sea of stars, play a vital role. Not only do they need to have extraordinary physical and mental fitness, but they also need to undergo long-term and rigorous training to meet the challenges of space exploration.

China's astronaut team has also undergone such a selection and training process. In 2003, Yang Liwei, the first astronaut in China's aerospace history to knock on the door of the universe, entered space, opening a new chapter in China's manned spaceflight. After that, Fei Junlong, Nie Haisheng, Zhai Zhigang, Liu Boming, Jing Haipeng, Liu Yang, Liu Wang, Wang Yaping, Zhang Xiaoguang, Chen Dong, Tang Hongbo, Ye Guangfu, Cai Xuzhe, Deng Qingming, Zhang Lu, Zhu Yangzhu, Gui Haichao... Up to now, a total of 18 Chinese astronauts have successfully pursued their dreams for nine days, and space has ushered in Chinese figure again and again.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army Astronaut Brigade was established in 1998, when the first 1500 astronauts were selected from more than 14,5 outstanding pilots, and after <> years of training, the first astronauts entered space.

In May 2010, the second batch of reserve astronauts joined the team, a total of 5 people. In September 7, the third batch of reserve astronauts joined the team, a total of 2020 people. The fourth batch of reserve astronauts is in the selection stage.

"Despite various life support systems, space is a high vacuum and high radiation high temperature difference environment, astronauts need to do a lot of training to adapt, but also to learn a lot of space knowledge, 13 categories of more than 50 courses are equivalent to another bachelor's degree." Yang Liwei used "hardship" to describe the training life.

It is worth mentioning that in addition to strict training, whether astronauts can "go to the sky" still needs to wait for the opportunity.

The flight crew is finally determined after multi-faceted overall evaluation according to the characteristics and needs of each mission, combined with the actual situation of astronaut team selection and training, and in accordance with the principle of "new and old combination". In the early stage, because of the long interval between missions, some astronauts need years or even longer to carry out missions. They interpreted their perseverance and enthusiasm for the aerospace industry with a long wait.

Astronaut Liu Wang waited for 14 years, Zhang Xiaoguang waited 15 years. The longest wait was for Deng Qingming, who waited 24 years and 10 months.

Deng Qingming was already a reserve astronaut when the astronaut brigade was established in 1998. At that time, he was one step closer to the space dream he had cherished since childhood.

However, becoming a full-fledged astronaut is not so easy. In the next 20 years, Deng Qingming experienced countless training and assessments, each time going all out, but never getting the opportunity to fly. Deng Qingming did not give up, insisted on training, insisted on learning, and constantly improved his skills and quality.

Finally, on November 2022, 11, Deng Qingming ushered in his own flying opportunity. He became an astronaut on the Shenzhou XV mission. This year, he was 29 years old and had upgraded to a grandfather in his life.

His hard work and hard work finally paid off, and his space dream finally became a reality.

Dreams sustain every astronaut. Liu Boming once sighed: "Studying and going to college is not only for life, life must always be a little ideal." Wang Yaping also said: "Dreams are like stars in the universe - seemingly out of reach, but as long as you work hard, one day you can touch it." ”

Many of them, even after Yang Liwei completed the feat of flying into the sky, began to germinate the dream of flying in their hearts, regarded Yang Liwei as a goal to strive for, and bravely moved forward to chase their dreams.

These astronauts trained for an average of nearly 10 years before they could get the opportunity to fly. Their waiting reflects the complexity and rigor of the space mission, and also shows their love and dedication to the space industry.

Over the past 20 years, China has successively sent 18 astronauts to fly into space, and their average age for the first flight is 41 years old, two of whom are women.

The three astronauts of Shenzhou 3, who are about to return to Earth, are called the "doctoral crew". Among them, Zhu Yangzhu, the first astronaut trained by the National University of Defense Science and Technology, is China's first aerospace engineer to fly into the sky. Together with two other crew members, he flew the first manned mission to the space station into the application and development phase, and conducted related technology experiments in space.

Another astronaut, Gui Haichao, is the first payload expert on the Chinese space station. He is not only a professor at Beihang University, but also China's first non-military astronaut and the first astronaut to wear glasses to the sky. His image and story inspire more ordinary people to move forward, pursue science and pursue their dreams.

In 2017, Gui Haichao, who graduated from the School of Astronautics and Astronautics of Beihang University, majored in aircraft design, returned to his alma mater to undertake the teaching task of this course, and has supervised 10 master's and doctoral students so far, and 3 have graduated. Gui Haichao, who has published more than 20 SCI papers, is a veritable scientist.

How exactly are astronauts made?

Looking back at the growth process of Chinese astronauts, there is Nie Haisheng, who grew up in a poor environment, who used mathematics as a weapon and became a hero of aerospace with wisdom and perseverance; There is Liu Wang, who has been obsessed with electronics and machinery since he was a child, and his dreams flow between his fingers, and eventually turn into a powerful force at the helm of the universe; Liu Yang, who received a doctorate in law from Tsinghua University, has become a unique symbol in the aerospace industry with her female delicacy and tenacity; Chen Dong, who only filled in the volunteer of pilots during the college entrance examination, is as persistent as his love for the blue sky, extremely firm; There is Zhang Lu, who firmly stated that "my dream is to be a pilot" at the theme class meeting of the third year of high school, and his dream is imprinted on the epic scroll of flying sky like his name.

20 years have passed since the moment Shenzhou 20 was launched. In the past <> years, we have witnessed the development and growth of China's flying team from scratch. Chinese astronauts are not only witnesses of China's space glory, but also practitioners of China's space dream.
