Élisabeth Borne went on Monday to the Bois d'Aulne college in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine with Gabriel Attal to commemorate the three-year anniversary of the assassination of Samuel Paty in this establishment. On this occasion, the Prime Minister assured that "the Republic will never bow to terrorism".

"The Republic will never bend in the face of terrorism," Elisabeth Borne said on Monday at the Bois d'Aulne secondary school in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine in the Yvelines region where Samuel Paty, a teacher killed in an Islamist attack three years ago to the day, taught, as did Dominique Bernard on Friday in Arras.

The government is doing "everything possible" to protect establishments

"Three years later, the pain is still strong. Three years later, barbarism and obscurantism have struck again" but "barbarism will never prevail in the face of knowledge, the Republic will never bend in the face of terrorism", declared the Prime Minister before participating, with the Minister of National Education Gabriel Attal, in the minute of silence organized throughout the country in tribute to these two teachers.

After this moment of contemplation, the head of government exchanged with the students of the college, before speaking with the teachers. "Are you worried?" asked Elisabeth Borne to the students. "Yes," one girl replied. "I can assure you that the government is putting measures in place," the prime minister continued.

In her speech, she assured that the government was doing "everything possible" to protect schools. "We are here to help," she added.
