From November 5th to November 11th, the 10th China International Import Expo will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), which will be the first time that the Expo has fully resumed offline exhibitions after the new crown epidemic. As the first import-themed national-level exhibition, CIIE has become a window for China to build a new development pattern, a platform for promoting high-level openness, and an international public good shared globally.
Preparations are progressing in an orderly manner
In November 2018, the first CIIE was held in Shanghai. Since then, every year in November, the Expo has come as scheduled, becoming an important platform to promote exchanges and cooperation among enterprises and other parties.
According to statistics, a total of 131 countries and international organizations participated in the national comprehensive exhibition in the first five CIIE, and about 2000,3500 new products, new technologies and new services were launched, with a cumulative intended turnover of nearly <> billion US dollars.
At present, less than one month before the opening of the sixth CIIE, various preparations are progressing in an orderly manner. During this year's Expo, the national exhibition will fully resume offline holding and set up the guest country, while the exhibition area of the China Pavilion will be increased from the previous 1500,2500 square meters to 60,3000 square meters, which will focus on displaying the latest achievements of China's promotion of high-level opening up and high-quality development, and set up the "Tenth Anniversary Achievement Exhibition of the Construction of the Pilot Free Trade Zone". At present, more than 36 countries have confirmed their participation, and international organizations such as the World Trade Organization, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and the International Trade Center have also confirmed their participation. In terms of enterprise exhibitions, about <>,<> enterprises have signed up to participate in the exhibition, with an exhibition area of more than <>,<> square meters.
Preliminary statistics show that during this year's Expo, at least dozens of global executives of the world's top 500 and industry leading enterprises will attend the Expo, and it is expected that more than 30 guests from more than 330 countries and regions will participate in the Hongqiao International Economic Forum.
On October 10th, the plenary meeting of the Executive Committee of the 7th CIIE was held in Shanghai. Wang Wentao, director of the Executive Committee of the Expo and Minister of Commerce, said that the national exhibition of the Expo should be held at a high level and fully demonstrate the characteristics of the country; Enterprise exhibitions should ensure quality and improve effectiveness; The Hongqiao Forum has many sessions and high levels, and efforts should be made to enhance international influence.
Old friends "look back every year"
At the Expo, there are both new friends who participate in the exhibition for the first time and old friends who "look back every year". Among the more than 3000,200 global companies participating in this year's exhibition, about 6 companies have signed contracts to participate in the exhibition for six consecutive years, and about 400 companies have returned to participate in the exhibition after more than two years.

At the signing ceremony of exhibitors of the 9th CIIE held on September 15, 25 companies, including GE Healthcare and Panasonic, signed the 4th CIIE exhibiting contracts or memorandums of cooperation. As one of the members of the central enterprise trading group, China Construction Second Bureau will participate in the signing and procurement during the Expo for the fifth time this year. With the Expo as a platform, a number of major opening up measures have been intensively introduced, demonstrating China's confidence and determination to open up to the outside world. Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the China International Import Expo Bureau, said that as a platform to promote high-level opening-up, the measures released at the Expo such as the convenience of entry for exhibitors, tax incentives for the retention and purchase of exhibits, and strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights have optimized the domestic business environment.
In July this year, the General Administration of Customs issued 7 facilitation measures to support the 2023th CIIE in 17, covering the whole process of exhibition access, customs clearance of exhibits and post-exhibition disposal. The <>th CIIE will also further expand the scope of participation, and on the premise of assessment and confirmation that the risks are controllable, animal and plant products and foods that have not been quarantined in countries and regions without animal and plant epidemics are allowed to enter the exhibition after being approved by concession.
A more open China is attracting more and more foreign investors. Data show that from January to August this year, 1,8 foreign-invested enterprises were newly established in China, a year-on-year increase of 33154%; The actual amount of foreign capital used in the manufacturing industry was 33.2399 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.6%.
