The police write on their website that they were alerted at 15.45 that a person was seen with a weapon-like object in the residential area of Norrliden.
Shortly thereafter, further information came in that loud bangs were heard from Two Sisters Road and bullet holes have been found in a window of a residence, according to the police.
Investigated as attempted murder
A large police presence is in place and a courtyard has been cordoned off.
The incident is being investigated as attempted murder and aggravated weapons offences.
The alarm from Norrliden comes just hours after a young boy was detained on suspicion of the murder of a 25-year-old man on Monday.
