The State Forestry and Grassland Administration released today that China has included wetland protection in the assessment scope of the forest chief system and the river and lake chief system. Previously, a number of national and industry standards for wetlands have been released.

Wetland protection is included in the assessment scope of the forest chief system, river and lake chief system

In addition to including wetland protection in the assessment scope of the forest chief system and the river and lake chief system, and formulating interview methods for destroying wetlands, China has achieved full coverage of satellite image interpretation of suspected problems in important wetlands, carried out special actions for the investigation and rectification of illegal occupation of national wetland parks and other nature reserves, and increased the investigation and handling of violations of laws and regulations.

In the past two years, China has promulgated 2 national standards and 5 industry standards for wetlands, regularly released white papers on the ecological status of wetlands of international importance in China, and established 40 wetland ecological positioning observation stations.

According to the latest survey results, the area of wetlands in the country is about 5635.82 million hectares, including mangrove land, forest swamps, shrub swamps, etc. At present, there are 29 wetlands of international importance, 903 wetlands of national importance, 13 national wetland parks, and <> international wetland cities, and the national wetland protection system has been initially established.

The State Forestry and Grassland Administration said that in the next step, China will continue to implement major projects for wetland protection and restoration, scientifically compile important wetland restoration plans, and give priority to the implementation of wetland protection and restoration projects in 30 key areas.

Various localities have taken a number of measures to promote wetland protection and development

In order to strengthen the protection and restoration of wetlands, various localities have also taken a number of measures to continuously promote wetland protection and development.

Not long ago, the artificial lake wetland in Xinhua Township, Jinsha County, Guizhou was fully completed. In accordance with the principle of "comprehensive protection, scientific restoration, rational utilization and sustainable development", the local area strictly protects the natural landscape and biological resources of the artificial lake wetland and maintains the integrity of the wetland ecosystem.

Yang Hongqing, head of Xinhua Township, Jinsha County, Guizhou Province: By further improving the ecological environment and infrastructure construction around the artificial lake (wetland), we have built an island landscape in the middle of the lake for tourists to watch and birds to stay.

In the Dongcaoxi Wetland in Cangqian Street, Yuhang District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, reeds sway with the wind, birds fly freely, the environment is elegant and the ecology is good.

Shen Qi, ecological protection staff of Dongcaoxi Ecological Protection, Cangqian Street, Yuhang District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province: We organize river patrol teams to regularly inspect the water quality, water level and surrounding environment of Dongcaoxi, and continuously improve the level of ecological protection and restoration of Dongcaoxi wetland through retiring to wetness, retiring fishing to wetness, replanting and restoring vegetation.

Xinjiang Manas National Wetland Park is located at an important node of the migration route of migratory birds in the world, in order to effectively improve the ecological environment of wetlands and ensure the smooth migration channels of migratory birds, the local government has taken measures such as removing reeds and weeds in habitats, using underground well water to widen the water surface, and opening up water channels to restore the original natural appearance of the wetland.

Liu Yongjun, captain of the management team of Xinjiang Manas National Wetland Park Administration: The ecological effect of wetlands has gradually emerged, and there are 315 species of wild animals, including 279 species of birds, and the biodiversity is becoming increasingly rich.

In promoting the ecological protection and restoration of wetlands, Fujian Meizhou Island insists on implementing a number of key projects such as ecological corridors and coastal wetland shelter forests every year, while local forestry, power and other departments build green photovoltaic energy supply systems to ensure that water quality is not polluted and wetland resources are protected. Through unremitting efforts, Meizhou Island has continuously enriched the species of birds, aquatic plants and terrestrial plants, and achieved remarkable results in ecological protection and restoration.

The area of mangrove forests in China has increased to 2,92 hectares
