An 85-year-old woman was found dead on Monday, October 9, at her home in Forbach. A 40-year-old neighbor was taken into custody Tuesday morning and knew the victim well. The man arrested and taken into custody is a 40-year-old former carpenter who had not worked for about ten years due to bipolar psychiatric disorders.

A man was taken into custody for murder on Tuesday after the body of an octogenarian woman with neck injuries was discovered the day before at her home in Forbach (Moselle), AFP learned from the public prosecutor of Sarreguemines. The victim, an 85-year-old woman, was found dead in her home by her daughter in the early evening of Monday, Glady said.

'A puncture wound'

She had a "puncture wound" on her neck and jewellery was stolen from her home. Since early Tuesday morning, "a man has been in police custody for murder," the magistrate said. "He turns out to be an otherwise familiar neighbor of the victim." According to information from the Républicain Lorrain, the man arrested and placed in police custody is a 40-year-old former carpenter who had not worked for about ten years due to psychiatric disorders of the bipolar type. The 40-year-old man is unknown to the justice and police services. The investigation has been entrusted to the judicial police of Metz. The public prosecutor's office in Sarreguemines will relinquish jurisdiction by Tuesday evening in favour of the Metz prosecutor's office.
