"There are problems in air defense. It is impossible to protect the entire territory of Ukraine, as there are not enough air defense systems," Schmidtke said.
He noted that due to the lack of air defense systems, Ukraine defends only large cities and important military areas.
Earlier, US Senator Chris Van Hollen offered Poland to give Ukraine Patriot air defense systems in exchange for the Israeli Iron Dome.
Prior to that, Reuters, citing sources, reported that the United States plans to announce on October 11 the allocation of a new military aid package for Ukraine in the amount of $200 million.
