According to the news agency "APA" Azerbaijan that President Ilham Aliyev will not participate in the five-way meeting that was scheduled to be held in the Spanish city of Granada on Thursday, in what said the agency "Bloomberg" that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan canceled his scheduled visit to Spain.

The agency said Baku had put forward a proposal on Turkey's participation in the meeting, which includes Azerbaijan, Armenia, France, Germany and the European Union, which includes a meeting between Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

She explained that the statements of French officials and Paris' military cooperation with Yerevan negatively affected Baku's participation in the meeting, as well as the statements of European Council President Charles Michel, which the agency described as "accusatory" to Azerbaijan.

For its part, Anadolu Agency attributed the reason for Azerbaijan's non-participation in the meeting to the non-acceptance of Turkey's accession condition.

This comes as Bloomberg quoted informed sources that Turkish President Erdogan canceled a visit to Spain on Thursday, coinciding with the five-way meeting, due to a busy agenda ahead of the start of his ruling party's conference on Saturday.

Clashes and condemnation

Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry strongly condemned what it said were baseless allegations made by the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, during a press conference on Tuesday in Armenia.

France, which has paid no attention to the forcible expulsion of Azerbaijanis from their territory and has not paid attention to the commission of war crimes and genocide against them over the past 30 years, is working to provoke the international community in an extreme manner by leveling baseless accusations against Azerbaijan, especially when it claims, contrary to the positions of international organizations, that the Armenian population in Karabakh was forced to emigrate.

The statement also added that France's attempt to continuously arm Armenia, making it return to threat and military adventure, is unacceptable.

French Foreign Minister Colonna has said her country has agreed to conclude contracts with Armenia to provide it with military equipment so that it can defend itself.

At a joint press conference with her Armenian counterpart in the capital Yerevan, the French minister added that she could not give further details in this regard at the moment.
