Göran Sarring is the initiator and organizer of the manifestation in Norrköping, which took place during the Culture Night. The Swedish Society for Cultural Conservation was created in collaboration with the Facebook group "Stop the cultural slaughter in Nkpg – Now we organize ourselves!" and will be a politically independent association.
"Culture must be completely free and have substantial resources. Society has to pay, there is no society that has a self-sufficient culture, says Göran Sarring.
Great commitment
The Facebook group has up to 10,000 members.
– We started the Facebook group because we wanted to find more people with more experience of organizing, says Elisabet Lindén Calatayud.
During the manifestation, about a thousand people participated to protest against the sale of Norrköping Concert Hall Louis De Geer. Afterwards, there was a packed concert with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra.
The investigation into the sale of Louis De Geer is complete.
Sophia Jarl (M), chairman of the municipal executive board, has previously said: "We see that Louis De Geer Konsert & Kongress really has the potential to become a leading national player for concerts and conferences. It also shows that there is interest among commercial players to both buy and operate the plant."
