South Korean President Yoon Sung-yeol invited Korean A-bomb survivors from Hiroshima to a luncheon. He apologized for the time it took to invite him and expressed his hope that this visit would lead to healing.

About 40 people, including Korean A-bomb survivors living in Hiroshima, visited Seoul at the invitation of the South Korean government on the 28th.

President Yoon Sung-nyeol invited the delegation to a luncheon with his wife, Kim Jian-hee, on the 29th.

At the outset, President Yoon expressed his sorry for the delay it took to invite the A-bomb survivors, and stated, "The Government of the Republic of Korea will never again turn its back on the pain of our compatriots, and I hope that this visit will ease the sorrow that you have experienced so far."

On behalf of the delegation, Kwon Joon-ho, Chairman of the Special Committee on Measures for Atomic Bomb Victims in the Republic of Korea, expressed his gratitude for President Yoon's visit to the Korean Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb Victims in Hiroshima Peace Park in May.

He then stated, "We, the A-bomb survivors, wish for a world without nuclear weapons, and even after returning to Hiroshima, we will support the efforts of the ROK government toward denuclearization."

About 5 people, including A-bomb survivors living in South Korea, attended the luncheon and deepened exchanges.
