A minor will be tried for violence and aggravated damage while an adult will be presented Tuesday to a magistrate, suspected of being involved in the attack on a police car Saturday during a march against police violence, AFP learned Monday from the Paris prosecutor's office. The minor is summoned before a juvenile judge for violence and damage aggravated by the circumstances they were committed in assembly and on a person holding public authority or of public utility, said the public prosecutor. Regarding the major, his custody began Saturday shortly after the demonstration extended Sunday and Monday until late afternoon, before the prosecutor's office decided on his referral. The Public Prosecutor's Office will indicate Tuesday morning the judicial follow-up given.

Five people taken into custody

In this case, a total of five people were taken into custody, but the prosecutor's office said that the other three, a man, a woman and a minor, were released because they were cleared by the investigations entrusted to the Territorial Security. The entourage of the police commissioner Laurent Nuñez also indicated that he had decided not to open an administrative investigation into the police officer who drew his weapon to make demonstrators back down, while his car was attacked.

"There is no suspicion of professional misconduct" on the part of the official, it added. "The police commissioner called each of the officials (who were in the vehicle attacked) to congratulate them and send them his support," added the entourage. Saturday, during this demonstration from the Gare du Nord, a police car, stuck in traffic, was attacked "with iron bars", according to the prefecture of police, by several individuals dressed in black.

One of the police officers then briefly exited the vehicle, weapon in hand to keep the demonstrators at bay. An intervention of other police officers had then "made it possible to stop the action and shelter" the police officers present in the vehicle, had explained the prefecture. Four police officers were in the vehicle and three of them were "lightly injured" in the neck, Laurent Nuñez said Saturday.
