The Perpignan prosecutor's office said in a statement that a 7-year-old boy was found dead on Thursday. Two girls, aged 2 and 3, were also hospitalized. Two men from his family, the father and uncle of the three children, were taken into custody.

A 7-year-old boy was found dead Thursday in Perpignan and two men from his family were taken into custody, the prosecutor's office said Friday in a statement. Two girls, aged 2 and 3, were also hospitalized and bear "traces of multiple traumas," said the prosecutor of the Republic of Perpignan Jean-David Cavaillé.

An investigation opened for murder of a minor

The two men in custody, aged 33 and 28 and already convicted in the past, are the father and uncle of the three children, according to a source close to the investigation. According to this source, the deceased child was found in the bathtub of an apartment in the poor district of Bas Vernet: the body was marked with multiple bruises and was partially frozen.

An investigation was opened for murder of a minor, attempted murder, violence against minors by ascendant, kidnapping, concealment of corpses and forgery and use of forgeries. She was entrusted to the judicial police of Perpignan.
