Russia on Thursday suspended car traffic on the Crimean bridge linking it to Crimea, and announced that it had repelled numerous Ukrainian attacks by boats and drones.

The Russian Information Agency reported today that car traffic was stuck on the bridge connecting the country to Crimea.

The Russian agency said authorities did not provide reasons for the traffic stoppage.

In the same context, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the air defenses in Crimea shot down 11 drones launched by Ukrainian forces last night "in an attempt to hit targets inside Russian territory."

"Air defense systems repelled at dawn today a terrorist attack carried out with drones over the Republic of Crimea that was to target facilities on Russian territory, and 11 drones were shot down," the ministry said in a statement this morning.

For its part, the Russian RIA news agency quoted the Ministry of Defense as saying that 5 Ukrainian drones attacked a Russian warship in the Black Sea.

Border attacks

Moscow announced earlier that it destroyed on Wednesday night, Thursday, a number of Ukrainian drones during its response to an attack by these aircraft on the Bryansk and Belgorod regions in western Russia on the border with Ukraine, without reporting casualties.

For his part, the governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, said that 6 drones were shot down over the Onichsky, Brasovsky, Starodobsky and Karachevsky regions, an area very close to the city of Bryansk.

Bogomez stressed that this attack did not result in casualties or damage.

A little earlier, the Russian defense announced that its forces had shot down a Ukrainian drone over Belgorod, the Russian border region with Ukraine's Kharkiv region.

Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said the drone was shot down while flying over the village of Tolyanka, dozens of kilometres from the Ukrainian border.

Ukraine said on Tuesday it had shot down 17 of the 22 Russian drones that attacked its territory overnight, and that a child died in the south of the country during artillery shelling.

The Ukrainian air force announced the downing of drones in several regions in the south and north of the country.

"On the evening of September 14, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 30:136 a.m., Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with several groups of Shahid-131 and Shahid-3 drones from <> directions," it said in a Telegram post.

The governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Serhiy Lisak, said three marches flew over the area, damaging several buildings. Another part of the area was hit by artillery and rocket fire overnight, he said.
