Foreign Minister Hayashi met with President Zelensky in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, last night Japan time, and conveyed the idea that the G7 = seven major countries will unite to continue sanctions against Russia and support for Ukraine.

The two leaders also agreed to start negotiations toward the preparation of a bilateral document based on the G7's Joint Declaration on Security in Ukraine announced in July, and will coordinate to hold the first round of consultations at an early date.

The meeting was also attended by executives from Japan companies in the telecommunications and medical fields, including Rakuten Group President Hiroshi Mikitani.

At the beginning of next year, a conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine will be held in Japan, and Minister Hayashi conveyed his intention to work together with the public and private sectors to support reconstruction.

In response, President Zelensky said, "I welcome any kind of support, such as economic recovery and job recovery, and I look forward to Japan public-private cooperation."

Minister Hayashi then visited the Emergency Agency and attended a handover ceremony for trucks with cranes used to dispose of landmines and unexploded ordnance.
