Jakarta, 9 Sep (ZXS) -- On the morning of 6 September local time, Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the 9th China-ASEAN (6+26) Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia. President Joko Widodo of Indonesia, Prime Minister Song Sai of Laos, Sultan Hassanar of Brunei, Prime Minister Hong Manai of Cambodia, Prime Minister Anwar of Malaysia, President Marcos of the Philippines, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore, Prime Minister Pham Minh Zheng of Vietnam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Saram of Thailand, and ASEAN observer Prime Minister Xanana of Timor-Leste attended the meeting. ASEAN Secretary-General Gao Jinhong attended.
Li Qiang said that in 2013, President Xi Jinping proposed in Indonesia to build a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future. Over the past 10 years, China and ASEAN have adhered to treating each other sincerely, helping each other, mutual benefit, coordination and inclusiveness, moving forward hand in hand and achieving mutual achievements, and successfully embarked on a correct path of long-term good-neighborliness, friendship, common development and prosperity in the world's century-old changes.
Li Qiang put forward four suggestions for building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future: First, work together to build an economic growth center, strengthen connectivity, and deepen cooperation in industrial chain and supply chain. The second is to work together to promote cooperation in emerging industries and strengthen cooperation in new energy vehicles, photovoltaics, artificial intelligence and other fields. The third is to work together to maintain regional peace and tranquility, actively promote consultations on the text of the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, and carry out cooperation in combating telecommunications network fraud. The fourth is to work together to expand people-to-people exchanges and further strengthen cooperation in culture, tourism, training, youth and other fields.
Li Qiang stressed: China and ASEAN are good neighbors, brothers and partners that cannot be separated and inseparable. China is willing to work with ASEAN countries to uphold the original intention of unity and self-improvement, uphold the spirit of win-win cooperation, and build our common home of peace, tranquility, prosperity, beauty and friendship.
The leaders of ASEAN countries warmly welcomed the participation of Premier Li Qiang, spoke highly of the achievements of ASEAN-China cooperation, and said that the ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership has brought great benefits to the people of the region and promoted regional peace, development and stability. ASEAN countries are willing to further enhance mutual trust with China, strengthen docking with the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen cooperation in agriculture, trade, investment, digital economy, science and technology, education and culture, and work together to address global challenges such as climate change. ASEAN countries welcome the progress made in formulating the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, look forward to the early completion of the negotiations on the upgrading of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area, and jointly host the 20th China-ASEAN Expo.
The meeting issued a joint statement on mutually beneficial cooperation between the "Belt and Road" initiative and ASEAN Indo-Pacific prospects, adopted the "China-ASEAN Joint Statement on Deepening Agricultural Cooperation", "China-ASEAN Action Plan for Green Development of Agriculture (2023-2027)", "China-ASEAN Initiative on Strengthening E-commerce Cooperation" and "Joint Initiative to Jointly Promote the Implementation of China-ASEAN Science and Technology Innovation Enhancement Plan" and other outcome documents, welcomed the signing of the China-ASEAN Technical Cooperation Agreement, and declared that 2024 is " China-ASEAN Year of People-to-People Exchanges".
