The X (formerly Twitter) platform, owned by businessman Elon Musk, has expanded the collection of user data to include biometric information.

The type of information being collected and the way the platform intends to use it is of interest to technology observers.

The company recently added to its online privacy policy: "We may use the information we collect. to help train machine learning or AI models for the purpose specified in this policy."

But the purposes cited by the company are unclear, and its definition of biometric data remains incomplete in terms of fine detail, compared to, for example, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's definition of biometric characteristics as "distinctive physical characteristics such as fingerprints, which can be used for automatic recognition."

X intends to record information about its users' level of education and work history. That data, according to the company, will be used to make recommendations for jobs.

The change in the methods of collecting information on the platform will begin by the end of September.
