In Zarzis, in southern Tunisia, a hundred Sudanese live in precarious conditions. They sleep in a roadside construction site. Outside, makeshift showers and toilets have been installed, as well as the necessary to allow them to cook.

"They came by themselves, I warned the authorities but it was very hot so I didn't want to tell them to leave," said Ali, a resident who allowed them to sleep there. "You have to be humane."

While Ali and local residents help on a voluntary basis, this situation remains very precarious for many migrants who do not know where to go. "There is no other solution than support by NGOs, they must help us, we can not stay like this," says one of them.

For its part, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees told France 24 that it was "working in coordination with the Tunisian authorities to provide them with assistance".
