Emmanuel Macron will visit Tuesday in a college of Orthez (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), on the occasion of the start of the school year, to meet students and educational staff and exchange in particular around the practice of sport, announced the Elysee Saturday. The Head of State, who will be accompanied by his Minister of Education Gabriel Attal, Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, and the Mayor of Pau François Bayrou, is expected at midday at Daniel-Argote College. He had made Friday the pre-return of a vocational high school in Orange (Vaucluse) to praise the reform of the sector.

A device that will concern 700 colleges

This time, the president intends to discuss "with the educational community on the building transformation of the college and the actions deployed to better support the initiatives of the pedagogical team," said the Elysee in a statement. "It will come back in this sense on the device '2 hours of sport in addition to college'", says the same source, stressing that "increasing the sports practice of young people is the first ambition of the heritage" of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

This system is to be deployed at the beginning of the school year in 700 colleges in all departments. The activities, free of charge, must take place in extracurricular time. They "will be offered by sports clubs and local sports leisure structures, not requiring a long or expensive trip," according to the Ministry of Sports.
