Salwan Momika has on several occasions broadcast live Koran burnings on the platform that reached tens of millions of viewers. He recently applied for new permits from the police for demonstrations in Stockholm, Malmö and Örebro.

Momika confirms to SVT that he can no longer receive gifts on Tiktok.

He has previously told TT that each shipment generated between SEK 1000-3000 and that he has no other income besides the gifts.

Tiktok does not comment on why the feature was turned off on Momika's account. According to Sven Carlsson, tech reporter at Swedish Radio, it may have and do with the fact that they do not want to make money on the gifts.

"You don't want the revenue to exist and maybe not make money from this because Tiktok takes about half of the donations that come in. Now we have a situation where the content is lingering and a situation where Tiktok continues to monetize ads that are still their main source of revenue.

Justiteminster Gunnar Strömmer (M) believes that it was right to turn off the gift function for the Koran burner.

"This is a decision made by a company, but generally it seems like an appropriate decision," he told a news conference.

SVT News has sought Tiktok's press service.
