• Events The Civil Guard rescues a family while their boat sank in the Medes Islands

New scare in the waters of the Costa Brava. The Maritime Service of the Civil Guard of Girona helped last Monday a family of German nationality who was in the water after falling from a jet ski off the coast of the town of Empuriabrava. The agents were patrolling the area from the bay of Roses when they spotted two adults and a minor floating in the sea next to a jet ski.

When approaching they found that they could not get back on board the motorcycle due to the strong wind and waves, in addition to the fact that the boat was full of water. That's why they put the mother and child in the patrol car while the watercraft was restored. The father was able to drive her to the port of Empuriabrava, following the Civil Guard ship.

After arriving on land, the agents called the emergency services who transferred the woman by ambulance to the Castelló dEmpúries ambulatory to be treated. In the last 15 days, the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard of Girona has attended two more similar cases, such as the boat that sank off the Medes Islands and in which a family was rescued, and that is why the agents remember "the importance of respecting maritime regulations and prudence in navigation".
