This statement was made by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during an emergency meeting with the heads of Ukrainian diplomatic missions.

He also added that the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada should be ready for negotiations on the accession procedure.

"Laws must be passed, which are part of the opening of negotiations regarding our membership," Zelensky said in his Telegram channel.

Earlier, Zelensky said that the next six months would be important for Ukraine due to the new political season for the allies.

The Financial Times wrote that it would be more difficult for Ukraine to join the European Union than to become a member of NATO, for Kiev it would be an impossible task.
