The American side was represented by the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Security Affairs of the Indo-Pacific Region, Dr. Eli Ratner. On the part of the PRC, Yang Tao, Director General of the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs at the Chinese Foreign Ministry, participated in the talks.
It is indicated that Ratner confirmed the readiness of the Pentagon to keep open channels of communication between Chinese and American military personnel.
In July, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the United States sanctions against Chinese Defense Minister Li Shanfu are not an obstacle to dialogue between the military of the two countries.
