• A man kills seven people and leaves eight wounded in a shooting at a Jehovah's Witness church in Hamburg

Three people were shot dead Friday in a southern German residential building and two others were wounded in a nearby house, police said. One suspect was taken into custody.

The shooting took place Friday night in Langweid, just outside the Bavarian city of Augsburg. Police said the suspect, a 64-year-old man, was taken into custody, according to reports from German news agency DPA.

Authorities said the motive for the attack was still being investigated.

According to police, the suspect shot two women aged 49 and 72 and a 52-year-old man, killing them, before heading to another house on a nearby street.

There, he allegedly shot a 32-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man. Both were being treated at a hospital.
