"There are currently 67 beds at Säter, which is a sufficient number to meet the number of patients we receive," says Anders Grawé, operations manager at the forensic psychiatric clinic in Säter.

The 67 seats used to be 78. But due to staff shortages, they have had to reduce capacity this spring and summer, with the hope that more staff will be available in the autumn. Grawé is optimistic about the clinic's ability to do its job.

"The reduction in capacity will not affect our ability to receive patients from Dalarna," he says.

Right now, 60 patients are being cared for on site at Säter. At the clinic, four beds are also kept empty for patients who are on leave – and could need to come back.

"It can happen that patients who are released on leave have a crisis when they are out, and then we need to be able to admit them again," says Grawé.

Lack of space at the national level

Grawé agrees that there is a shortage of space at the national level.

"We know that the location situation is problematic. This is something we are in constant dialogue about when we have meetings with other regions.
