A shooting in the city of Philadelphia (USA), in the northeast of the country, on Monday left four dead and at least eight wounded, according to local media.

The suspect, a man armed with a rifle and a handgun and wearing a bulletproof vest, has already been taken into custody by authorities, media said.

Among the victims of the attack are at least two minors, but no further details have yet been given about their condition.

A city police officer overheard the shooting, which took place southwest of the city, and found at least one victim at the scene.

The city's police stations also received several calls denouncing a man who was shooting in the street, armed with a rifle.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was intercepted and detained by the agents who went to the area and also found two firearms in different places near where the victims were.

According to the Gun Violence file, in 2023 there have been 339 mass shootings in the United States.
