Police have carried out surveillance work on, among other things, the building where the tobacco products were manufactured, which is located in Örnsköldsvik municipality - but also to Haparanda.

Two of the men, including the principal, who is in his 45s, also transported ready-made tobacco products to Haparanda with a light truck. There they met a Finnish-registered passenger car and goods were loaded over. The driver of the light truck, a 45-year-old man, was then arrested.

How men are punished

A total of five men, aged between 30 and 45, have now been sentenced, with the principal sentenced to one year and six months in prison.

Three of the men were convicted of aiding and abetting aggravated tax evasion and the fifth of aggravated unlawful employment with excisable goods, all four to 120 hours of community service.
