• Lives Fernando Tejero opens up about his hard childhood: "They sexually abused me"
  • Childhood Fernando Tejero: "I suffered abuse when I was 13 years old and bullying. It happened to me in the neighborhood with people I thought were friends."

Throughout his life Fernando Tejero has gone through tremendously hard times. He defines himself as "the borrowed child" because when his mother fell ill when he was nine months old, he was sent to live with his aunt. He was the youngest of six siblings and that marked him psychologically because he could not enjoy them. When he turned 14 he suffered again because his aunt fell ill with cancer and had to return to his father's home.

During adolescence in which he already pointed out ways to be an actor he suffered sexual abuse by a boy older than him and also because of his sexual orientation because "I lived a fucked up time, very fucked, ten years of Franco, the transition, and I was not me until I arrived in Madrid because I was homosexual, as a child I had a lot of feather, And they were already insulting me, they called me a 'faggot,'" he told Cadena Ser.

After leaving his parents' fish shop, he settled in Madrid with so little money that he barely had enough to live in a seedy pension. As chance would have it, he becamefriends with one of the students in the acting class, who was none other than Dani Martín -singer of El canto del Loco- who one day showed up at the boarding house with 10,000 pesetas and told him to go live with his family in Algete. Since then he has always been grateful to the artist.

His first important theatrical contact was with Animalario and his first big break in film and television occurred just two decades ago when he starred in Días de fútbol and became the most beloved goalkeeper in the communities thanks to Aquí no hay quien viva (2003-2006). From that moment it became a safe value in the industry that continued to make households laugh since 2013 with La que se avecina. Although he has always defended his privacy, a decade ago Miguel Ortiz, former Mr. Gay 2012 forcibly took him out of the closet because the couple was no longer doing well.

That sat very badly with the actor because he would have loved to have given the news personally. Despite that hard setback, they resumed the relationship on several occasions without success. Later he dated for two years with a musician much younger than him called Pascual Cantero and in 2019 the alarms jumped when he was seen next to Pol Badía, one of the former contestants of Big Brother. The interpreter said at the time that it was a scandal.

Fernando often remembers fondly when his father earned extra money organizing bullfights and acting as a banderillero. Later, two of his brothers continued with the bullfighting tradition since Antonio was Enrique Ponce's banderillero and José María has collaborated with Manuel Díaz 'El Cordobés'.
