The issue has been on the agenda in the regional council several times and despite criticism from the opposition, it is now clear that the region is raising ticket prices in public transport.

"People often talk about protecting children and young people, but in this decision they do the opposite," says opposition councillor Ulla Andersson (V).

The increase applies to all tickets except for pensioners.

"Children and young people have been deprioritised here, and we think that's wrong," she adds.

"Economy in balance"

"It's never fun to save money, but it's necessary if we want to be able to invest in public transport in the future. Getting an economy in balance is an important first step, says regional councillor Alexander Hägg (M).

Development in public transport is still ongoing. Sandviken, among others, will get a new city traffic at the end of 2023.
