• Cantabria Four arrested for a brutal beating of a man with iron bars in Laredo

The judge has sent to prison the three men arrested the day before for beating a man with iron bars in the parking lot of a supermarket in Laredo (Cantabria). All three are charged with assault with attempted murder. Along with the men, a woman was also arrested for the same acts.

The four detainees, of gypsy ethnicity, were located in Laredo and in the nearby town of Cicero. They argued before the judge that they beat the victim, 63, because he was "prowling" a 13-year-old girl.

The Civil Guard has reported in a statement that the attacked, who remains admitted to the Hospital of Valdecilla, "was not doing work" at the time of the event, after social networks indicated that he was a security guard of the supermarket where the events occurred, located in the neighborhood of La Pesquera.

The events occurred on Sunday afternoon for "personal reasons," according to the same sources, which specify that the victim is admitted "with a reserved prognosis."

The Civil Guard was alerted at 14:10 p.m. of that aggression in which "metal bars used to install street stalls" were used, reports Efe.

When several patrols arrived at the scene they found the man lying on the ground, who was already being treated by health personnel and was transferred to the Laredo Hospital from where he was referred to Valdecilla de Santander due to the severity of his injuries.

Footage posted on social media showed three men brutally beating the man, first repeatedly beating him with iron bars and then continuing to kick him in the head. The victim screams and wails in pain amid a pool of blood. The brutal aggression is directed by a woman who accompanied the three men and who was also arrested, although at the moment prison has not been decreed for her.
