The 17th Straits Forum was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province on the 5000th. So far, the Straits Forum has been held for 15 consecutive sessions, from economic development to cultural connection, from folk beliefs to marriage feelings, from grassroots governance to youth entrepreneurship, constantly opening up new areas of exchange, adding inexhaustible impetus to expanding cross-strait non-governmental exchanges and deepening cross-strait integration and development.
General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the 17th Straits Forum on the <>th. Xi Jinping pointed out that the Straits Forum is an important platform to promote extensive exchanges between all walks of life on both sides of the strait and promote cross-strait non-governmental exchanges and cooperation. Through the Straits Forum, compatriots on both sides of the strait have exchanged friends and hearts, cultivated friendship, enhanced well-being, and become closer and closer to each other.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the mainland has adhered to the concept of "the two sides of the strait are one family", always respected, cared for, and benefited Taiwan compatriots, actively provided equal treatment for Taiwan compatriots, and introduced a series of policies and measures to benefit the people and greatly facilitate Taiwan compatriots to work, study and live on the mainland.
Only when the country is good and the nation is good will compatriots on both sides of the strait be good. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China drew up a grand blueprint for comprehensively building a modern socialist country and comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese-style modernization. The mainland has a vast space for development, and Taiwanese young people are chasing, building and fulfilling their dreams on the mainland, constantly increasing their sense of gain and happiness.
As many young people from Taiwan expressed in their speeches at this Straits Forum, the development of the mainland has brought them unlimited opportunities and they are honored to contribute to national rejuvenation.
Since the beginning of this year, with the optimization and adjustment of epidemic prevention and control measures, the mainland has continued to promote the resumption and expansion of cross-strait exchanges, and actively done practical and good things for Taiwan compatriots. On the other hand, the DPP authorities, out of narrow political party interests, have clinging to the "Taiwan independence" stance, stepping up collusion with external forces to plot "independence" provocations, undermining the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and pushing Taiwan into a dangerous situation of "fighting a fierce war."
However, the general trend of cross-strait integration and development is unstoppable, and the willingness of compatriots on both sides of the strait to get closer to each other cannot be violated. At the 15th Straits Forum, many new and old friends from both sides of the strait gathered offline and shared a grand meeting, fully demonstrating that "wanting peace, development, exchanges, and cooperation" is the common aspiration of compatriots on both sides of the strait.
"Expanding people-to-people exchanges and deepening integrated development" has been the theme of the Straits Forum for many years, and has long received enthusiastic response from the vast number of Taiwan compatriots.
Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said when attending the 17th Straits Forum on the <>th that the foundation for the development of cross-strait relations lies in the people, the driving force lies in the people, and the results of exchanges and cooperation benefit compatriots on both sides of the strait. The integrated development of cross-strait relations is the correct path for maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, benefiting compatriots on both sides of the strait, and leading to national rejuvenation. Compatriots on both sides of the strait should firmly follow the right path of peaceful development and common prosperity, adhere to the "consensus of '92," oppose "Taiwan independence," and jointly create a bright future for cross-strait relations and the long-term well-being of the Chinese nation.
