• Interview Teresa Rodríguez: "We presented ourselves to the generals yes or yes alone, without Sumar"
  • Analysis The infinite division of the 'true left': from dogmas to today's money

Adelante Andalucía, the left-wing and Andalusian party of Teresa Rodríguez, will attend the general elections on July 23 only for the province of Cádiz and alone, that is, if allied with any other leftist formation nor with Sumar, the project of the Vice President of the Government and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz.

The objective of the party founded by Teresa Rodríguez, one of the best-known faces among the leaders of the formations to the left of the PSOE, is to concentrate all efforts in a single Andalusian province and not divide the vote of the left in the rest of the territories in which the options of achieving representation are almost non-existent. Therefore, Adelante Andalucía is not integrated into Sumar, but neither will it subtract left-wing votes from the confluence in any territory, except Cádiz.

This Saturday has ended the online referendum called by Adelante Andalucía among its militancy to see if it supported the party to present itself in a single Andalusian province to try to get a deputy in the Congress of Deputies in the next electoral appointment.

The province chosen was Cádiz, with 66.24% of the votes in the consultation, compared to 15.71% who opted for Seville and 18.05% who abstained. Cadiz and Seville have been asked because they are the provinces in which there are more possibilities of achieving representation. In the Andalusian elections of June 19, 2022, Adelante Andalucía won 8% of the vote in Cádiz and 6% in Seville.

The referendum has been the conclusion of a process of "internal debate" that has lasted almost two weeks, with assemblies in all the Andalusian provinces since the electoral call was announced, as reported by Adelante Andalucía.

Teresa Rodríguez has come to the step of the voices that, especially "from outside Andalusia", have asked her party to attend the next 23-J with Sumar. From his Twitter account, he explained that the party of Yolanda Díaz does not want Adelante Andalucía "inside, certainly not with Andalusian obedience. It's something we're aware of."

Sources of Adelante Andalucía have specified to EL MUNDO that at no time has there been an official offer by Sumar to this party to be integrated into the coalition. Neither from the party of Adelante Andalucía has this option been considered. Last December 2022, when Teresa Rodríguez left her seat in the Andalusian Parliament and announced that she was resuming her classes at the institute after eight years in politics, she already made it clear that her party was going to present itself to the generals "yes or yes alone, without Sumar". All this so that Andalusia "has a voice" in the Congress of Deputies, "as other territories have, and speaks in the places where our future is decided, without having more obedience than that of their needs," said the spokeswoman for Adelante.

As of this Saturday, and once it has been decided that Cádiz will be the chosen province, Adelante Andalucía is "immediately underway" to achieve the "historic feat" of returning the voice of Andalusia to the Congress of Deputies, in a "difficult context" to try to "achieve and condition policies in defense of Andalusia as other territories do", He pointed to training.

The spokesman of Adelante Andalucía in the Andalusian Parliament, Ignacio García, has been satisfied this Saturday by the results of the consultation among the militancy because this will concentrate the "efforts" in a single province so that "finally" there is an "Andalusian party" in Congress and Andalusia "is respected". With this strategy they also seek "not to divide the vote" the vote of the left in a situation of "exceptionality" in which the right-wing parties are on the rise.

In the letter that has been sent to the militancy for the online referendum, the National Coordinator of Adelante Andalucía recognizes that the current context of the rise of the right must be an exercise of "responsibility" to help stop "the right and the far right", so they will not compete in seven of the eight Andalusian provinces.
