This Saturday, Dunkirkers gathered to demonstrate against a project of offshore wind turbines on the dike of Malo-les-Bains. The latter provides for the construction of 46 wind turbines, about ten kilometers from the coast, by 2028 and would cover the equivalent of the annual consumption of one million inhabitants.

"No to wind turbines." Dunkirkers demonstrated this morning on the dike of Malo-les-Bains. A silent march to protest against a project of offshore wind turbines. The latter plans, by 2028, the construction of 46 wind turbines about ten kilometers from the coast.

"A wind turbine factory"

Luc, a former windsurfing instructor, is one of those who simply don't want it. "There, we are talking about wind turbines 300 meters high: real Eiffel Towers. 10 kilometers from the coast, it will be dives and that there are 46, it is a wind turbine factory. It has nothing to do with ecology. Dunkirk has already given well to the industry, why are they going to put us an industrial thing again. We have batteries coming, we will have two EPRs [nuclear reactor, editor's note], why us?" insists the Dunkirk.
