It was on May 21 that two of the trotting school's horses in Mantorp fell ill with the dreaded, deadly horse disease EHV-1, the neurological form. The facility was isolated and the horse clinic in the area was also closed for the intake of horses.

In connection with the isolation, the trotting school's horses and horses that had been at risk were moved to quarantine stables. No new signs of illness have appeared during the isolation, the arena announces on its website.

The plant reopens

From June 11, stabled horses at the arena can be registered and horses can again be transported in and out of the facility. On June 12, the track and stables will also open for training. The horses that are in quarantine stables will according to plan move back to the facility on June 22, according to Mantorp equestrian arena.

Two horses that contracted the disease had to be euthanized for animal welfare reasons, according to a veterinarian at the county administrative board in Östergötland.
