The excavations will be carried out during May to June at the site where the East Link railway will be built. Around 60 Viking Age graves have been found in the area, as well as traces of a settlement from the early Iron Age.

In one of the tombs, two stones were found that caught the interest of archaeologists, namely a so-called burial globe, and a stone that turned out to be shaped like the tip of a penis.

Unusual find

According to archaeologist Rebecka Jonsson, such "natural-like" phallic symbols from the Viking Age are very unusual finds in Sweden.

"But in Norway, hundreds of similar ones have been found, in the same white stone," she says.
