The Parcoursup platform is currently rendering its verdicts for high school students who have made wishes to access higher education. While some are already receiving positive responses, others are placed on a waiting list. Europe 1 takes stock of this process with a guidance counsellor.

This is the end of the suspense for the final year students registered on Parcoursup. The platform of wishes for higher education renders its verdicts since Thursday evening and for the moment, high school students can only access the results. They will only be able to respond to their proposals later. And for all those who do not yet have admissions, there is no need to panic.

Being on the waiting list "is not worrying"

For example, a high school student finds himself on a waiting list for one of his favorite choices. This may seem scary, especially if the position is far away, but this list evolves every day as the places vacated by the candidates. "It's not worrying," reassures Sophie Laborde-Balen, a guidance counselor in the Paris region.

"We must look at things clearly and in a pragmatic and real way, saying 'do I have chances of being caught yes or no on the waiting list?'", continues the guidance counsellor at the microphone of Europe 1, who gives a telling example: "If the last candidate last year was 400th and you are 200th, you will be taken".

All you need to know about the supplementary procedure

On the other hand, if the young person is too far in the ranking and receives only refusals, there is always the complementary procedure that starts on 15 June. "It is intended to enter ten new vows, both alternately and initially," says Sophie Laborde-Balen, "but only where there will be space." This procedure "is also open to students who have had a wish," she continues.

The counselor takes the case of a high school student interested in law, and also in history. "You got your wish, but suddenly you want to make history. The additional procedure will allow you, despite having already had a wish granted, to be able to add wishes of history, "says the guidance counselor.
