Inflation, increased raw material prices and increased wage costs have meant that the budget that the municipality decided on in November last year will not hold. Therefore, the municipality needs to reduce costs this year.

During the municipal board meeting on Tuesday, the municipal board decided on a number of measures that will reduce costs:

  • The Culture School's funding is halved – resulting in a saving of SEK 1.3 million.
  • The resource for school activities will be reduced by SEK 3.5 million.
  • Modules at Järåskolan and the relocation of grades 4 and 5 to Hammarstrand save SEK 1.9 million.
  • Humlan's preschool, which is empty, and the business premises Nornan in Stugun are sold, which gives a saving of SEK 1 million.

The municipal executive board also decided to postpone a decision on the budget until November.
