It was on January 16 that High Chaparral was able to establish that the flood was worse than the one that hit the theme park in 2020. During a busy winter and spring, 63 staff and guest cottages, a number of shops, eateries and premises in the park, the engine shed and the park's church have been renovated and renovated. The adventure golf course and a bridge have had to be restored.

"There have been two major floods in three years, so now we will be ready to deal with any new flood. That is why we have set the date for December 1," says Mathias Bergendahl, CEO of Västernparken.

Bringing in flood expert

Mathias Bergendahl has had meetings with several different authorities and the municipality to be able to make a plan for how they can limit the equally extensive damage at the plant if there is a new flood. Among other things, the theme park brings in a consultant who is an expert in flooding, who will analyze various concrete alternatives that may be relevant, such as different variants of barriers to lead water away.

During January, the area was hit by extensive flooding as homeowners, horse farms, entrepreneurs and High Chaparral were affected. Since then, it's been hectic work to get West Park ready for the season opener today, Thursday.

"There are a lot of people who together have made it possible for us to open the park on time. From the insurance company to the many companies that have contributed to the work – everyone has been there in an incomparably fine way, says Mathias Bergendahl.
