Both cars and large trucks with containers passed in and out to the Port of Gävle when the inspections were carried out. The work involved a broad effort against passing traffic, and in addition, motorists had to do sobriety checks.

The border police were also on site and checked, among other things, that foreign drivers had the right to drive in Sweden. At the same time, the traffic police checked the safety of the vehicles and the port security service checked the access of persons to the port.

On weapons and drugs: "We get into the bargain"

However, no targeted action was taken, either against weapons or drugs.

"But we get that into the bargain when we do these checks," says Johan Rekke at the Swedish Customs in Gävle.

The control is also intended to be a deterrent.

"So that you don't feel sure that we'll never show up," says Johan Rekke.
