This is the "feel-good" news of the day, in Nigeria, where chef and influencer Hilda Baci broke the world record for the person who has "cooked the longest". This Monday morning, the Nigerian cook exceeded 87 hours and 45 minutes behind the stove. This was the previous Guinness Book record. And by continuing its momentum, it reached 100 hours.

Hilda Baci, 27, started cooking on Thursday, May 11, at 16 p.m., and she did not stop for more than four days, making more than a hundred recipes.

The rules are drastic to achieve the longest "marathon of the kitchen": no sleep, prohibition to sit except during short breaks (five minutes per hour maximum)

On Monday morning, the young Nigerian broke the previous world record set at 87 hours and 45 minutes by chef Lata London in 2019. Hilda Baci continued her momentum and reached 100 hours, a new record.

In recent days, Hilda Baci has received the visit of many Nigerian personalities such as the singer Tiwa Savage who came to greet her or the governor of Lagos who made a surprise appearance on Sunday in her kitchen.

Even President Muhammadu Buhari issued a statement in which he said he hoped the feat would "spark interest in Nigerian food" and "inspire young people".

I share the immense joy of all Nigerians as Hilda Bassey Effiong (Hilda Baci) makes history by breaking the world record for longest cooking marathon. A great day for Nigeria. Throughout her cooking marathon, Hilda Baci was also supported by a crowd of anonymous people, some even spending the night in the rain to help her put her name in the Guinness Book of World Records.
