Eight municipalities in Västra Götaland currently completely lack a so-called fixer service, a service where older people get help with simpler chores at home, according to a survey made by SVT Nyheter Väst.

One of them is Dals-Ed, where the service previously existed under the name Fixar-Malte. Now the Social Democrats have put forward an election proposal to reintroduce it – free of charge.

Watch the Social Democrats and the Center Party give their views on the matter in the video above.

"We believe that it can be important precisely because people dare to stay at home. This means that there will not be such a high cost for the municipality. If we get to decide, we will definitely make sure that it happens, says Per-Erik Norlin (S), opposition councillor in Dals-Ed.

The Center Party wants to investigate the issue

However, it is unclear exactly how it will be designed and how much it would cost the municipality.

The Center Party in Dals-Ed agrees that it is important to prevent falls and wants to investigate the possibilities of starting Fixar-Malte. At the same time, they believe that there are also other alternatives. Hear more in the video.
