"There is one party that is apparently strong enough to lead the government, and this is bad news for Ukraine and the EU," the publication says.

According to Nattrass, we are talking about the Social Democratic Party SMER led by former Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.

Fico is known for his criticism of the policies of Western countries towards the Ukrainian conflict, the journalist added.

As Nattrass noted, Slovakia plays the role of an important transit and repair hub for the supply of military equipment to Ukraine.

If the SMER party wins in Slovakia, Ukraine will lose the support of its key ally in Europe, the author of the article concluded.

Earlier, Slovak Minister of Agriculture Samuel Vlčan said that the losses of Slovak farmers due to the situation with Ukrainian grain amounted to about €200 million.
