On a road made slippery by the rain, the Belgian went to the ground more than 150 km from the finish, in a village crossing without difficulty.

On the television images, we can see a dog crossing the road just before and causing the fall of a teammate of Evenepoel at Soudal-Quick Step.

The second in the general classification then fell in turn to find himself on the side of the road, in the gravel.

It took him a little while to get up, before changing his bike and leaving, accompanied by several teammates.

Without too much gravity apparently since the Belgian raised his thumb in front of the camera, before returning to the peloton a few minutes later.

The fifth stage of the Giro is expected to take the peloton over 171 km from Atripalda to Salerno.
