According to the region, the result is due to increased pension costs, lower targeted government grants and a negative result in health care.

"Economic development is worrying and not sustainable. Already in this year's budget, we pointed out that we need to focus on the core business, rethink decisions, remove tasks and do differently. This work needs to be intensified and broadened, says Regional Board Chairman Marie Morell (M), in a press release.

Reducing the cost of temporary workers is an area where new measures will be introduced, and a strategy to limit dependence on temporary work agencies has been decided by the regional board.

"The main purpose of the strategy is to reduce our dependence on temporary work agencies. In the continued work, we also want to achieve other gains, such as ensuring the supply of skills over time, achieving a higher quality of the staff hired and improving the process of orders and requirements for the supplier, says Marie Morell (M).

The budgeted result for the whole of 2023 is minus SEK 1,050 million.
