It was on Monday that the police arrested and detained four people during raids in Umeå and Skellefteå. On Wednesday, three of these were requested to be detained on suspicion of serious drug offences and serious weapons offences.
"One of those arrested was released after questioning yesterday," says David Helgesson, head of serious crimes.
"Investigating connections"
According to sources SVT talked to, the weapons and drugs seizure are directly linked to the shooting East in town, but prosecutor Stina Stener cannot confirm this at present.
"We are investigating the connections right now. But the police have seized a large amount of drugs and several weapons, she says.
The police are also vague about the connection to the shooting for the three who are now requested to be detained.
"Whether they have a role or whether they have a role in the shooting is too early to say. The connection, if it exists and what it looks like, I cannot go into at this stage, it needs to be investigated further, says David Helgesson, head of the police's serious crime department.
